PDM LABORATORIES
LABORATORIES
Institute has well equipped laboratories for Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology. It also houses a new state of the art computer laboratory with 512 kbps internet facilities.
PHARMACEUTICS LAB
In this lab the students get knowledge in developing, manufacturing and evaluating products such as tablets, capsules, ointments and liquids for medicinal, nutritional and cosmetic use. Also a student is trained in Product Development/Formulation, Manufacturing, Drug delivery and Drug stability testing.
Currently there are two undergraduate labs for Pharmaceutics experimentations. The labs are well equipped with new as well as conventional gadgets like ovens, shakers, stirrers, homogenizers, tablet machine, capsule filling machine, coating pan, viscometer, centrifuge etc. The working benches have adequate water, gas and electricity supply.
MACHINE ROOM
Product development and formulation of drugs is an important aspect for a graduate pharmacist. Various machines and processes are involved in formulation of tablets, capsules, injectables, ointment, lotions, suppositories, pessaries, transdermal patches, inhalations etc. The main stress these days are given on the quality of these products. Therefore companies are making their pharmaceutical manufacturing units in compliance with WHO, USFDA etc. Machine room exposes the students to have pilot facilities for manufacturing the above formulations.
PHARMACEUTICAL MICROBIOLOGY LAB
Microbiology is one of the most applied branches of Pharmaceutical
Sciences. In this lab the student learns various techniques involved in
sterilization, study of various microbes, fermentation processes, sterility
testing, microbiological assay etc. The lab is well equipped with
equipments such as Autoclave, Laminar air flow, BOD incubator, UV chamber,
Colony counter,
PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY
It is the department of chemistry which ascertains or regulates the chemical composition of medicinal substances. There are two undergraduate Medicinal Chemistry labs and one Analytical Chemistry Lab. All the labs have good working amenities including the bio safety hood.
PHARMACOGNOSY LAB
The Pharmacognosy laboratory assist the students to acquire skills of identification, morphological and microscopical studies, extraction, isolation, estimation, and formulation aspects of various medicinal and aromatic plants of traditional value.
There are two Pharmacognosy labs having a variety of collection of crude drugs sample and equipments used in extraction, identification and standardization of herbal drugs.
MEDICINAL
The medicinal plant garden has been created for the cultivation and presentation of important medicinal flora. The garden has been making significant practical contribution to manifold the effects of curriculum based lectures on Pharmacognosy, phytochemistry and Pharmacology. It helps students in learning the cultivation of medicinal plants and carrying out research on active plant ingredients.
PHARMACOLOGY LAB
At PDM we particularly emphasis upon experimental basis of Pharmacology, since we believe that this approach leads to a deeper understanding of the principles of the discipline. The Pharmacology lab offers the student the chance to carry out in-vivo experimentation on rat, guinea pig, rabbit etc., in-vitro studies on different models of diseases and evaluation of drugs action etc. The students are also trained extensively for preclinical studies on animals and theoretical exposure of clinical studies on human beings keeping in mind Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
The lab is equipped with 25 sets of organ bath, Herrington rotating drum and other equipments for isolated tissue experiments. The lab houses various equipments for psychopharmacological, anti inflammatory anti fertility and hepato protective studies etc.
ANIMAL HOUSE
Animals like Albino rats, Albino mice, Guinea pig and Rabbits were housed in a neatly maintained animal house as per CPCSEA norms under the supervision of Veterinarian.
Sports complex
There is well equipped sports complex within the premises of the institute having all the sports facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. Students are encouraged to participate in all sports activities.
Computer Centre
The computer centre caters to the needs of faculty and students for their research and teaching. The main features of the Computer centre include

Canteen
Canteen is an ideal spot for the students for holding informal discussions and planning various activities. It caters sumptuous and quality snacks.

Residence
As PDMREA undertakes the responsibility of imparting knowledge, skill and attitude to its students, it also feels responsible for making arrangements for their residential facilities in the vicinity of college. It is rendering hostel facilities to students by providing them a safe haven, a home away from home. Separate hostel facilities are provided for male and female students in the campus. Hostels are well equipped with modern facilities like geysers, air coolers, water coolers, television etc. Hostel provides a platform for students to have better interactions about their studies with other students to clarify their doubts and also save time lost in travel and avoid the fatigue.
